St. Patrick’s Day 2016
Fort Myers River District
By 5:00 P.M. the downtown Fort Myers River District was in full swing: Streets blocked off; bands set up; and the anticipation of a good time was obvious. Four bands on four street corners, including our own, classic Irish entertainer, Brian Bonner, right in front of The Connection, contributed greatly to the festive dancing and listening mood.
St. Patrick’s day the United Irish will set up a table to sell T-Shirts, etc., and of course a table for “Pot of Gold” raffle tickets; all of which will do a tremendous amount of business – especially the Guinness tent – go figure.
As the night progres the streets will be filled with happy, green-clad people, dancing and having a fantastic time. Obviously these people like to party and St. Patrick’s Day is a great opportunity to do so. The United Irish provides great classic Irish entertainment that will be enjoyed by everyone.
By 10:00 p.m., with everything still in full swing, the United Irish has the drawing for the “Pot of Gold” raffle. Christine Eberhard, our President will choose a person from the audience to pull the winning ticket from the drum, that will be “fiercely” turned for hours. The winning name will be announced and called on a phone with the phone number provided on the winning stub.
